O’Conners Pub, Edinburgh

EXTERIOR LED TAPE INSTALLATION

In this instance the client requested a clean wash of warm white light round the entire exterior of the pub in order that ‘you could not miss it’ from street view.

The success of an LED tape installation hinges on the quality of tape itself, correct drive system specification and the substrate to which the tape is fitted. In this case a custom timber rail detail with inset aluminium angle allowed the correct angle for the tape, acted as a heat sync and ensured the light seamlessly blended into the building without a viewing angle of the source. Additionally to provide maximum impact, the installation was ‘double stripped’. One of which was fitted with a lense to provide a tighter beam angle and longer throw characteristics. This combination lit the building from street level up to the LED details evenly.
